Latest Development of Regional Barometers

Afrobarometer
Several activities are planned in the Afrobarometer. They are:

1. Questionnaire Committee meeting (Cotonou, Benin)- August 2007

2. Financial Management Workshop (Accra, Ghana)- September 2007

3. Induction Workshop: for new project staff (Pretoria, South Africa)- October 2007

4. Round 4 Planning Workshop: for 20 National Partners (Kampala, Uganda)- November 2007

5. Round 4 surveys begin- January 2008 and end in December 2008

7. Other Round 4 activities: scientific analysis, capacity building, dissemination and outreach- 2008-2010

Arab Barometer
Aside from surveys in Palestinian Territories, Jordan, Morocco, Algeria, and Kuwait, the Arab Barometer has completed plans for two additional surveys, one in Lebanon and one in Yemen. Surveys in the two counties are expected to be completed by early 2008.

Asian Barometer
Second-wave survey is expected to be completed in China in spring and Cambodia in summer.

Meanwhile, the Asian Barometer is to hold an international Conference on "The State of Democratic Governance in Asia" in Taipei on June 20-21, 2008. This outreach is to provide a platform between the scholars of ABS and experts from democracy supporting agencies (Asia Foundation, UN Democracy Fund etc.) to exchange the sources and policies in supporting democratic development in the region.

Latinobarometro
New wave of Latinobarometro survey (2007) fieldwork is completed and the data is being presented on November 17 in Santiago de Chile, and Costa Rica simultaneously. Country presentations will take place in Bolivia, Peru, Mexico, Colombia, Honduras and Brazil in the weeks to come.
